Allergic Skin Rashes

While rashes on the skin sometimes cause problems on their own, sometimes they can be the first symptom of a different disease. Stains or rashes, especially in children, can cause families to panic. While some of them are extremely innocent, in some cases it may be necessary to act a little faster.

Apart from genetic factors, environmental factors may also play a role in the formation of allergies. In case of frequent exposure to any allergen, more reactions, that is, more allergic diseases, are observed. The presence of allergens in the environment may cause allergic reactions to occur more frequently and more severely. The rate of exposure to allergens is higher in city centers than in rural areas. Rates of developing allergic diseases vary depending on lifestyle and environmental differences.

House dust mites, pollens, dander of animals such as cats and dogs, insect stings, moulds, some foods (example: peanuts, cow's milk, soy, seafood, eggs) and medications are the most common allergens in Turkey.

In the management of allergic symptoms, the priority is to stay away from the triggering allergen, if it can be detected; The second step includes various systemic and topical medications and immunotherapy. Immunotherapy, or vaccine treatment, is a long-term treatment that aims to change the immune system's response to allergens. The aim is to achieve desensitization by giving increasing doses of allergens to which the patient is sensitive. Immunotherapy is a method that can be performed against a single antigen and takes a long time. Since multiple allergens play a role in many allergic diseases, immunotherapy is not a widely used method today. However, it can be applied in cases such as bee venom allergy.
